WC choir presents spring concert
The Weatherford College choir will present its spring concert on Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature a range of pieces spanning different periods and styles, including two early madrigals, two romantic masterpieces by Johannes Brahms, and three settings of religious texts, including "I Waited on the Lord" from Mendelssohn's "Hymn of Praise."
The choir will also perform works by contemporary composers John Rutter and Paul Davenport, a favorite American folk song, and a new piece based on an Indian classical melodic framework called a rãga.
The choir will be accompanied by Jacob VonDeylen, the new accompanist this semester.
The concert will conclude with the piece "Wide Open Spaces," which was performed by five Weatherford College students for their Texas Two-Year All-State choir auditions.
“This semester’s choir concert will feature a variety of songs guaranteed to please any listener,” said choir director Rick Rainey. “Please join us on this musical journey, we would love to see you there."
