WC brings “Godspell" to the Alkek stage
Weatherford College Fine Arts presents the musical “Godspell” this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
This production of “Godspell” is based on the gospel of Matthew and brings Jesus Christ and his community to life through song, dance and storytelling. Featuring classics like “Day by Day” and “Light of the World,” this 2012 revised version of the beloved show retains all the praise, worship and gospel music of the original 1970s production.
Under the direction of James Brownlee, the 12-person ensemble cast led by Micah Chesney as Jesus and Kendrick Booth as John the Baptist/Judas promises an energetic and heartfelt performance. With set design by Valeria Null, costume design by Ty Reed and lighting by Meaghan Crocker, this modern retelling of Jesus’s parables is a show for all ages.
Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
Join us this weekend, Oct. 26-28, as the talent of WC fine arts brings the unforgettable music and message of “Godspell” to life on the Alkek stage. Admission is free.
