Opera highlights WC fine arts schedule

Weatherford College Fine Arts presents A Night at the Opera on Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.  

The program will include extended scenes from Bizet’s masterpiece "Carmen" sung in original French, the opening scene from American composer Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Old Maid and the Thief,” the seduction between “Samson and Delilah” from the second act of Saint-Saëns biblical opera, and a lighter aria from Johann Strauss's comic operetta "Die Fledermaus."

  • The Weatherford College Jazz Orchestra’s Tribute to Jazz Composers — Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.  
  • “The 39 Steps” theatrical performance — Friday and Saturday, April 11-12, at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.  
  • The spring semester choir concert — Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.  
  • The 7th annual WC International Piano Competition — Saturday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.  
  • The bi-annual Student Art Exhibition — Thursday, May 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Texas Hall of the Alkek Fine Arts Center.  
  • The alumni big band concert Generations — Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m. in the third-floor community room of the Emerging Technologies and Workforce Building.
