Four WC voice students bring home top awards in singing competition
Four Weatherford College students attended the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition last week in Stephenville, and each received a first-place rating in their division.
Micah Chesney and Logan Thompson tied for first place in the Men’s Lower Collegiate Broadway Division.
Hannah Baker won first place in the Women’s Lower Collegiate Broadway Division and was also chosen for the prestigious Anne Weeks Jackson Outstanding Soloist Award.
Richard Wooten brought home first place in the Men’s Upper Collegiate Classical Singing Competition.
“The students and I had a wonderful time, and what a learning experience for all of them,” said voice instructor Rick Rainey. “There is certainly a great amount of talent on the Weatherford College campus! Thank you to our dean, Duane Durett, and our department head, Rob Laney, for their continued support in allowing us to participate in this event.”
